Innovative technology allows authorized users access to databases of digital photos and maps on standard PCs from any location. Emergency response personnel can use PCs to navigate through buildings using maps and blueprints with corresponding images. Entrances, exits and routes-even ventilation systems and other building components-can be isolated and explored. The secure acquisition of pictures and pertinent data can be done over a network, Intranet or via the Internet, thus making it possible to concurrently link local, state, national and international resources directly to emergency operation centers. The need to assemble emergency management decision-makers and the subsequent delays are effectively eliminated through an internal security program. Planning and organization can be done remotely so action can be taken immediately.
