Access Control Software for Dosimetry

State-of-the-art Windows-based Access Control System (ACS) provides a logging and personnel control system for restricted area entries and exits. The MJW ACS has been designed to be easy to use and administer, yet fully functional and robust in order to provide the highest possible level of control and data integrity. It is the intent in the design of all our software to interface with or import existing database(s) where possible (and desired by our clients) in order to preserve our clients’ investments.

  • The MJW Access Control System (ACS) provides for log-in/log-out of personnel using electronic personnel dosimetry (EPD). RWP capabilities, personnel records, and other various administrative modules, are provided to facilitate this function, as described below.
  • The Access Control System (ACS) is designed top down to be fully functional, comprehensive, flexible and robust. The program is written in C++ utilizing object-oriented programming technology. ACS is a multi-threaded application that is immediately responsive to user and hardware events. The software design and implementation provides the ability for it to be adjusted to varying hardware configurations and site-specific requirements/specifications without the need for changes to the program code.
  • Each workstation is easily customized. Software utilities are provided that enables the administrator to select key settings based on the policies of the customer and the hardware in use at the workstation. Data entry at the login workstation can be via numeric keypad, bar code scanner, or magnetic strip reader. The ACS is capable of interfacing with all major electronic dosimeter manufacturers. A workstation can actually handle more than one type of electronic dosimeter because the hardware interface is modular.

GEDDS-Remote Monitoring Software

GEDDS is a Windows® based application which provides an easy to use and understand graphical interface for the control and display of radio transmitted electronic dosimetry data. GEDDS was developed in response to the need for increased productivity and improved information management. GEDDS provides a high performance network solution for the management and display of data received from radio transmitting devices such as electronic dosimeters (telemetric dosimeters), Area Radiation Monitors (ARMs) and Continuous Air Monitors (CAMs). The latest GEDDS versions have been developed using Java. With the internet being the driving force behind Java, it has clearly become a simple, network savvy, robust, secure, architecture neutral (OS independent), portable, high performance, multi-threaded, and dynamic language.

Maintain Positive Control over workers in high dose rate areas, decrease exposure, decrease costs, and dramatically increase productivity with GEDDS from MJW. In its full configuration, GEDDS is a 32-bit client-server application which runs under Microsoft® Windows 98, NT® and 2000 across any network running TCP/IP. GEDDS supports several of the leading telemetric dosimeters such as those from Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), Rados, Siemens, and MGP Instruments. GEDDS contains three components: the Communications Server (Comm Server), the Network Server and the End User Program (GEDDS Client).

VSDS-Visual Survey Data System-for conducting RAD Survey's

VSDS is a state-of-the-art automated electronic survey system. The VSDS software is a powerful tool for capturing radiological dose-rate, contamination and airborne radioactivity data, storing them in a controlled and efficient manner, and providing site-wide access to this important information. Utilization of the VSDS enables your facility to institute a "paperless" radiological survey program where data entry, review, approval and dissemination to the end users is all performed electronically. This newest release of the VSDS is MJW's response to valuable customer feedback that has resulted in many new flexibility and time-saving features.

The VSDS software can also be interfaced to MJW's Graphical Electronic Dosimetry Display System (GEDDS) to offer automatic updating of real-time radiological conditions to any survey, with the current conditions of any location within the plant. This important information can be accessed and used by planners, engineers, and technicians from any place at any time across the site network prior to undertaking any project. Both time and labor savings increase with use of the system, and are only limited by the imagination of the users. Current users have reported savings of over $250,000 during an average outage.

The VSDS software automates the process of data capture, display and reporting (printing) of radiation and contamination survey information. The VSDS software is an easy-to-use, mouse-driven, Windowsgraphical program where digital images (floor plan, system or component drawings or photographs) serve as the background over which the radiological survey data is recorded. Survey locations are identified on the drawings with unique drag-and-drop graphical symbols which contain the radiological data (dose rate, cpm, etc.). All data is captured and stored in relational database tables to enable easy reporting, retrieval and trending. Viewing, entry, updating and approval of surveys can be performed from any location on the network.

The VSDS software interfaces with a variety of data logging survey meters, and unlike other systems is not explicitly tied-in to specific survey instruments from any manufacturer.
