Install the Manager
Program
1. Navigate to the
location where the Rad-ID Manager Installer Program is saved and
lunch the installer program and follow the instructions.

2. Complete all
installation steps until you reach the screen shown below and
click Finish.

Enable Bluetooth on rad-ID
1. Ensure
the rad-ID Bluetooth radio is on. When it is on, the small blue
Bluetooth icon appears to the right of the clock on the
rad-ID display. To turn it on, go to “Menu”- “Settings” –
“Communications” and change Communications port to “Bluetooth”.

Establish Bluetooth
Communications between the PC and the rad-ID
1. If the PC
you are working with is not Bluetooth enabled, ensure that the Bluetooth antenna is
correctly inserted and installed.
2. In the
Bluetooth properties dialog box on computer (Bluetooth
Configuration in Control Panel, can also be on Desktop as
Bluetooth Devices or My Bluetooth Places), change the
discoverability to ON.
3. On the computer
Bluetooth window menu, click New (or Search for Devices) to
launch a search for Bluetooth-enabled devices. You should see
the chem-ID with serial number, select it and hit Continue.
4. When prompted for
a passkey, select No Passkey [in Windows SP2 you will have to
use a password when connecting – this will always be 00000000 (8
zeros)].
Launch the rad-ID PC User
Software
1. On your
Windows-based PC, launch the rad-ID Manager Program found in
your Start
Menu->Programs
(or All Programs)->D-tect Systems->rad-ID Manager.

2. Select the
outgoing (or slave) comm. port provided by Windows

5. Press the Connect
button.

Back up the rad-ID
datasets
1. Back up your rad-ID
datasets before continuing. Updating the firmware may
result in the loss of datasets.
2. Click the “Update
List” button to download the file names of all datasets stored
in the rad-ID to your PC.

Updating the rad-ID
firmware
1. To update the
firmware, select the “Update Firmware” menu command under the
“File” menu in the PC User Software.

1. A dialog box will
open confirming the rad-ID firmware upgrade. Read each line
carefully and
confirm the firmware upgrade by clicking on the Yes
button.

2. A browser window
will open and ask you to locate the new firmware file. Look for
the
RadID_0113.dl
file in
"Program Files\D-Tect
Systems\rad-ID Manager" folder of your hard drive.
Select and click on Open. Once selected, the
firmware will update automatically.

3. When the upgrade is
completed, the rad-ID will reboot. The default communication
port setting is off, so you will need to turn the communication
port back on to resume communication with the PC User Software.
